Throughout history, chocolate has obtained the reputation as an aphrodisiac and the food of love. Even today, manufacturers and artists mold chocolates all shapes and sizes, use chocolate for dipping, and have treats for almost every holiday. Specifically for Valentine’s Day, chocolate has a special meaning. In Italian traditions, the most popular chocolates are Baci, translating to “kisses”, filled with cherry and hazelnuts. Often, these Baci are filled will messages inside of each wrapper. Italian lovers started to exchange boxes of these chocolates in the 1920s and have been doing so ever since, expanding the tradition to other cultures as well. Chocolate is one of the most versatile and beloved foods in the world.
